Grantham 'treated like dumping ground' over HMOs
The Planning Inspectorate has overturned South Kesteven District Council’s refusal of plans to convert offices on Avenue Road in Grantham into three HMOs containing 34 bedrooms. The inspector found the development would not cause unacceptable harm through noise, disturbance, parking or its effect on the area’s character. Councillor Matthew Bailey strongly condemned the decision, citing congestion, parking, bins and pressure on existing families, while Councillor Charmaine Morgan said she was surprised but recognised the proposed accommodation’s quality. JG Property Solutions Ltd said the scheme would provide self-contained housing for young professionals, with parking for 14 vehicles and space for 10 bicycles.
