Five people appeared at Cambridge Crown Court in connection with the attempted murder of a man who was shot in Gorefield near Wisbech on May 31. Jesse Hughes faces attempted murder, firearm possession and perverting the course of justice charges, while Billy Cameron and Brandon Walsh face conspiracy to murder and perverting the course of justice charges. Eleanor Warren is charged with perverting the course of justice and Leah Foley with assisting an offender. A sixth defendant, a 15-year-old boy, has been charged separately, while another arrested man has been released on bail. The five defendants are due to return to court in September, with a trial scheduled for March 1 at Peterborough Crown Court; the victim remains critically but stably ill.

Two drivers were taken to hospital after a serious early-morning collision involving a car and a van on the A47 at South Brink near Wisbech. Police, fire crews and air ambulance services attended, and the road was closed for several hours before reopening at 7am.
