A66 Bowes crash recap: Emergency services rush to scene of collision
A collision involving a car and an HGV closed the A66 in both directions between Scotch Corner and Bowes during the early hours of August 25, 2026. Emergency services completed their work while contractors cleared debris and a road spillage, with diversions put in place. All lanes reopened at approximately 03:03 BST. The incident occurred days after a fatal A66 crash that killed five young men and two police officers.
