A fatal A66 crash near Middlesbrough killed seven people, including Cleveland Police officers PC Tom Clough and PC Matthew Blades, after a Volkswagen Passat entered the dual carriageway in the wrong direction and collided with their marked police car. The crash reportedly followed an alleged ram-raid on the home of Cole Worthy’s father, with a Volvo XC60 said to have been involved and a possible feud between rival criminal groups being investigated. Police have made multiple arrests on suspicion of organized-crime, firearms, drugs and related offences, while warning that gang activity and dangerous driving may have contributed to the tragedy. Police representatives also criticized social-media platforms for enabling the filming and promotion of reckless driving. Fundraising for the officers’ families had raised more than £900,000.

Lisa Riley has condemned AI-generated images falsely portraying her as pregnant, calling them horrendous and deeply upsetting after years of fertility struggles. The Emmerdale actor said family members believed an earlier fake post and criticised the lack of control people have over AI-generated content. Riley has previously discussed unsuccessful IVF treatment and said she would have loved to become a mother, but has found support and fulfilment in her partner and wider family.
