A man in his 40s was treated for head injuries after an assault on Bridge Road in Rainham. The injuries were not considered life-threatening or life-changing. Police arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of assault with intent to cause serious harm and appealed for witnesses to provide information.

A fundraiser has been launched to help repatriate 28-year-old motorcyclist Anwar Shinwari to Afghanistan and support his family with funeral costs after he was killed in a hit-and-run at the junction of the A12 and Whalebone Lane North in Chadwell Heath on July 19. The Metropolitan Police Service is seeking Lee Culleton, who allegedly fled the crash scene on foot, and has advised the public not to approach him but to contact police. Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite urged anyone with information to call 999 or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.

Two separate grass fires were reported near Bridport Avenue and Eastern Avenue West in Romford on July 29. London Fire Brigade deployed eight fire engines and 60 firefighters to each incident, while large plumes of smoke reduced visibility nearby. The causes remained unknown, and residents were advised to stay away from smoke and vegetation fires, avoid attempting to extinguish them, and close vehicle windows and vents.
