Redevelopment of Sheffield’s former ski village at Parkwood Springs is advancing after New Zealand adventure tourism company Skyline Enterprises agreed a deal with Sheffield City Council. Initial plans include a luge ride and family playground, with potential future zipline and surf wave attractions. The council is investing £19.4 million in the wider country park and has allocated £12 million for roads and junction improvements. A public consultation is expected in September, ahead of a planning application later in 2026. The site has been closed since a 2012 fire, following several unsuccessful redevelopment proposals.
