Eighteen-year-old Dyfan Hughes was seriously injured in a collision with a lorry in China while cycling from Wrexham to Thailand with friends Louis Dennis and James Thomas to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. He suffered head, neck and leg injuries and remains in a Chinese medical facility, while his parents have travelled to be at his bedside. His friends say he is alert and in good spirits, although the full extent of his injuries and recovery remain uncertain. The fundraiser has raised more than £50,000.

Kyle Simpson, a 26-year-old volunteer crew member at Rhyl RNLI, died suddenly after only a few months with the station. Colleagues praised his infectious laugh, cheeky personality, dedication to training and willingness to assist with station maintenance and activities. Rhyl RNLI lowered its flag to half-mast in his memory, while the organization expressed condolences to his family, friends and fellow crew members.

A man suffered a deep arterial wound after slipping while trying to open a beer with a knife on Aberdyfi beach in North Wales. Bystanders controlled the bleeding before RNLI Aberdyfi crews, community first responders, paramedics and Wales Air Ambulance provided treatment and airlifted him to hospital. Emergency responders highlighted the effective multi-agency effort and credited the public’s quick actions for helping prevent a life-threatening outcome.
