Dad tried to fight off 'pocket bully' in 'horrific' attack
Matthew Roberts says he fought off a pocket bully-type dog after it attacked his seven-year-old Labrador, Parker, during an evening walk in Flint on August 8. Parker required several hours of veterinary treatment, stitches and treatment for soft-tissue and shoulder-bone damage costing £700. Roberts complained to North Wales Police, saying the dog was returned to its owner within hours and that further checks should have been carried out. North Wales Police said no person was injured, the incident did not meet the prosecution threshold under the Dangerous Dogs Act, and the dog was seized before being returned to its owner. The force said officers later contacted Roberts about preventative safeguarding measures.

Plans are advancing to convert Llandudno’s hidden Victorian Fach reservoir into a new attraction called Llandudno Vaults, blending engineering heritage with immersive storytelling and Welsh mythology. The project secured £20,000 from the UK Immersive Arts programme, with developers now seeking wider public and financial support. A planning application is expected later in the year, and community engagement efforts are underway to shape the visitor experience.
