Glasgow Mum Creates Reborn Dolls to Help Grieving Parents and Other Customers
Glasgow artist Gayle Macdonald creates highly realistic reborn dolls from her home, hand-painting vinyl kits, adding rooted hair, weighted bodies, realistic skin textures and baby-powder scents. She began making the dolls in 2014, left her sales job in 2016 and now sells about three custom dolls a month for roughly £550 each. Her customers include collectors, empty nesters, teenagers and some bereaved parents, although she says most buyers are collectors rather than people seeking psychological help. Macdonald hopes to continue developing her craft and earning industry awards.
