Woman rescued from home in Wherstead Road in Ipswich

Partial Solar Eclipse to Be Visible in Suffolk in August
A partial solar eclipse will be visible across Suffolk on August 12, with around 90% of the Sun obscured and peak coverage expected at approximately 7:15 p.m. Viewers are advised to watch from a high point with a clear western horizon and to use certified eclipse glasses, solar telescopes or pinhole projectors rather than looking directly at the Sun. The next total solar eclipse visible in the UK is expected in 2090, while a major partial lunar eclipse will occur on August 28.

Person rescued in Felixstowe after drifting out to sea
A young person who drifted offshore in a canoe near Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club was located and safely returned to shore by Felixstowe Lifeboat crews, who reunited them with family. The rescue was one of three emergencies handled by the volunteer crew on Sunday, alongside a report of a person in the water at Neptune Marina in Ipswich and a vessel aground on the River Orwell. The lifeboat crew had received nine callouts in July at the time of the incidents.
