Met Office reveals when to expect next heatwave in the UK
The UK is expected to experience its fifth heatwave of the year, with temperatures rising from the weekend and potentially reaching 36°C in parts of East Anglia and southeast England on Thursday, August 14. The Met Office forecasts widespread hot conditions across England and Wales, with heat also affecting Northern Ireland and Scotland. The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow heat health alerts for seven English regions from Saturday through Tuesday, warning of increased risks for older people and those with underlying health conditions. The forecast follows the driest July on record for England and Wales, with 19 counties recording 1mm or less of rainfall. People are advised to stay hydrated, avoid the strongest sun and check on vulnerable individuals.

UK tool and machinery supplier falls into administration
United Tooling Solutions has collapsed into administration after months of difficult trading and liquidity pressures, leading to 75 redundancies and a near‑total halt in operations. Administrators from Ernst & Young are seeking ways to recover value from company assets as financial statements show sharply rising losses in 2024. Directors cited the failure of parent company Troy (UK) Limited and related supply chain disruption as major factors in the downturn. The closure adds to a growing list of UK retailers, travel operators, and airlines that have entered administration or liquidation in 2026, although several major brands continue to expand with new store openings.
