JD Wetherspoon introduces Meta Glasses ban at all 800 pubs
JD Wetherspoon has banned Meta Glasses and all other smart glasses across its more than 800 UK pubs. The company says the devices can enable surreptitious recording of customers and staff, conflicting with its policy against filming people without permission. Meta argues that the glasses include a recording indicator and provide useful features, including accessibility benefits for people who are low-sighted or hard of hearing, and says restrictions should be applied consistently.
