PlayStation to stop making physical game discs in 2028
PlayStation will end production of physical game discs for new titles beginning in January 2028, citing consumer preference for digital formats. The announcement sparked mixed reactions from gamers, with some calling the move anti‑consumer while others saw it as an inevitable industry shift. PlayStation will also remove more than 550 Studio Canal movies and TV shows from UK user accounts in September 2026 due to licensing agreements, after which previously purchased titles will no longer be accessible.
