Security expert Shahzad Ali advises UK holidaymakers to use inconspicuous, preferably black or worn-looking suitcases rather than brightly coloured luggage, which he says may attract unwanted attention. Travellers are also advised to use high-quality padlocks, add subtle identifiers to prevent mix-ups, keep highly valuable items close to the body or in carry-on luggage, and hide jewellery among clothing in checked bags.
