Husband jailed after he drove at wife and beat her with bat in koi carp row
A man was sentenced to 24 years in prison, with an additional four years on licence, for attempting to murder his estranged wife by ramming her with his car and beating her with a baseball bat in Hull. He located her address by stealing mail‑redirection information from his former workplace and carried out the attack shortly after being released from prison for previous assaults on her. Passersby intervened, preventing her death. The victim sustained serious injuries and continues to suffer lasting physical and emotional effects. The judge said the defendant had planned the attack and showed no remorse, while the victim expressed gratitude to emergency responders and support organisations and urged others experiencing abuse to seek help.
