Somerset hosepipe ban unlikely despite ongoing dry spell
Wessex Water says there is currently no prospect of a hosepipe ban in Somerset because reservoir and groundwater supplies remain stable after a wet winter. The company attributes its resilience partly to reliance on underground aquifers and investment in a network of more than 200 kilometres of trunk mains. However, prolonged hot weather and high demand could affect water pressure, so customers are being urged to reduce waste by using watering cans and reusing paddling-pool water.
