Nerve Block or Wound Infiltration with Liposomal Bupivacaine for Postoperative Pain Management in Open Orthopedic Surgery: A Meta-Analysis of 38 Randomized Controlled Trials Involving 3,389 Patients

Frontiers in Medicine 18 Sep 2026 English

Reporting style, Factual: Predominantly factual systematic review and meta-analysis reporting pooled results from randomized controlled trials, with limited interpretive discussion.

A meta-analysis of 38 randomized controlled trials involving 3,389 patients found that liposomal bupivacaine produced a small reduction in pain scores on postoperative day 2 and a borderline reduction on day 1, with some benefits in specific procedures such as total knee arthroplasty and bunion surgery. Across studies, it did not significantly reduce total or daily opioid consumption, adverse events, patient satisfaction, or hospital stay compared with conventional analgesics. Substantial heterogeneity, risk of bias, and evidence of publication bias in several outcomes limit confidence in the findings, supporting the need for larger, higher-quality trials and longer-term safety assessment.

MUC13 promotes cisplatin resistance in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through regulation by histone H3K18 lactylation

Cell Death Discovery 1 Sep 2026 English

Reporting style, Factual: Predominantly factual scientific research reporting experimental findings, with limited claims about translational potential.

The study identifies a positive feedback loop linking MUC13, histone H3K18 lactylation, glycolytic reprogramming and cisplatin resistance in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. MUC13 activates the β-catenin/c-Myc pathway, increasing GLUT1 and glycolytic enzyme expression, lactate production and H3K18 lactylation at the MUC13 promoter. This reinforces MUC13 expression and drug resistance. Inhibiting LDHA with GSK2837808A disrupted the loop, reduced cisplatin tolerance in vitro and in vivo, and sensitized patient-derived organoids, indicating a potential therapeutic vulnerability.

Benzodioxane Carboxamide Derivatives as Novel Monoamine Oxidase B Inhibitors with Antineuroinflammatory Activity

ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters 20 May 2024 English

Reporting style, Informative: Research-focused presentation of experimental findings, with a cautious statement that the lead warrants further investigation.

Researchers designed and tested N-phenyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxine-6-carboxamide derivatives as human monoamine oxidase B inhibitors. Compound 1l was the most potent, with an IC50 of 0.0083 μM and more than 4,819-fold selectivity for MAO-B over MAO-A; experiments found it to be a competitive, reversible inhibitor. In stimulated BV2 cells, it reduced release of inflammatory mediators NO, TNF-α, and IL-1β, mitigated amyloid-β-induced cytotoxicity, and showed low neurotoxicity. The authors identify it as a potential lead for further in vivo investigation.

Understanding Post-Adoption Behavioral Intentions of Mobile Health Service Users: An Empirical Study during COVID-19

International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 22 Feb 2023 English

Reporting style, Informative: The article is based on empirical research and presents findings with supporting data.

The study investigates the post-adoption behaviors of mobile health (m-Health) service users during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the influence of user personality traits, doctor characteristics, and perceived risks on user continuance intentions and positive word of mouth. Utilizing the stimulus-organism-response framework, the research highlights the roles of cognitive and emotional trust in shaping these behaviors. Data from 621 m-Health users in China reveal that personal traits and doctor characteristics positively impact trust, while perceived risks have a negative effect. The findings suggest strategies for m-Health platforms to enhance user trust and promote sustainable development in the post-pandemic era.
