Meath’s Pride of Place awards will not include shop front recognition
أسلوب التغطية, وقائعي: Primarily factual reporting of a local council decision with no apparent subjective language.
Meath County Council confirmed that the Pride of Place Scheme will not reinstate a shop front recognition category, which had been removed in 2023 due to low participation and its classification as business support. The council responded to a proposal from councillor Francis Deane by reiterating that the scheme's focus is on community collaboration and sustainable solutions. Upgraded areas previously regarded as litter black spots can be entered under existing categories, and collaborative community initiatives will remain eligible for the 2026 competition.

A €2.7 million allocation has been designated for Meath schools as part of a €65 million national programme to support minor works and ICT infrastructure. The initiative, announced by Education Minister Hildegarde Naughton, aims to give schools consistent funding timelines to improve planning and upgrade facilities. Meath will receive €1.2 million for minor works and €1.5 million for ICT upgrades in 2026. Officials, including Senator Linda Nelson Murray, emphasized the importance of modern technology and safe learning environments for students. The funding is intended to enhance school infrastructure, support digital learning, and ensure long-term investment clarity for educational institutions.
