Based on blockchain technology, it combines six digital tokens with a physical silver collector coin commemorating Lithuania's 1918 Act of Independence and its 20 signatories. The Bank of Lithuania initially issued 4,000 physical coins, which can be obtained by purchasing six-token packages for €99. Buyers can store, exchange, gift or transfer the digital tokens, with limited sales intended to encourage adoption and trading.

A new threat is looming for thousands of Lithuanian residents: it would trap them even deeper

Delfi 17 mai 2025 Lithuanian

Style rédactionnel, Informatif: Primarily factual reporting, with concerns attributed to named sources.

Lithuania’s debt-collection system is described as among Europe’s strictest. Although changes have been made to benefit debtors, the Ministry of Justice has signaled that bailiff costs may rise further. NSMOT head Aistė Adomavičienė is concerned that higher costs could worsen the situation for indebted residents, and the Ministry of Social Security and Labour also opposes the proposal. Adomavičienė additionally points to another troubling trend and gaps in the law that she says Parliament should address.

Mantas Peteraitis, participating in the Tallinn Architecture Biennale: In contemporary construction, polyethylene film has replaced the cornerstone

Artnews 21 sept. 2026 Lithuanian

Style rédactionnel, Équilibré: A reported interview with substantial factual detail, but strongly shaped by the architect’s critical and advocacy-oriented views on plastics and sustainability.

Architect Mantas Peteraitis is representing Lithuania at the Tallinn Architecture Biennale with “Architecture of Prevention,” an experiment based on restoring a 20th-century homestead without plastic or other synthetic materials. He argues that modern construction has become dependent on inexpensive petroleum-based products such as polyethylene membranes, insulation films and mounting foam, creating long-term pollution when buildings are damaged or demolished. The project replaces these materials with expanded glass granules, stainless-steel piping, mineral-insulated wiring, clay-lime-sawdust mixtures, wood-fiber boards and traditional sealing techniques. Peteraitis emphasizes that plastic-free construction is costly mainly because it requires more time, specialist knowledge and manual labor, while acknowledging that the environmental impact of supposedly green industrial materials can be difficult to verify across global supply chains. He intends the restoration to become an open-source learning resource for architects and presents community labor as a possible future model for reducing the financial and social costs of sustainable construction.
