Counter-terrorism officers have reopened an investigation into an alleged 2025 firebomb attack at Nigel Farage’s south London home after identifying a line of inquiry that was not pursued at the time. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is separately investigating a Counter Terrorism Policing London staff member over the alleged failure. The development follows the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe, who was fatally attacked at her Devon home; Joshua Kerry has been charged with her murder. Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice said authorities had been slow to take threats and intimidation against the party seriously.

Counter Terrorism Policing London has reopened its investigation into an attempted burglary reported at an address in Greater London in April 2025, after identifying a potentially relevant line of inquiry that was not pursued at the time. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating whether a CTP London staff member failed to identify and pursue that line. The review forms part of the investigation into the killing of former MP Ann Widdecombe, who died after being struck with a hammer at her Devon home; Joshua Kerry has been charged with her murder.

Steven Davies, Ian Roberts and Dolores Gnapi have been remanded in custody after allegedly breaking into Keysight Technologies’ premises in Fleet and causing an estimated £2.4 million of damage to electronic equipment. Prosecutors said the defendants sprayed red paint, shouted support for Palestine and used a hammer during the incident. The company reportedly makes parts for Elbit Systems’ drones, which the defence linked to Israel’s military operations in Gaza. All three face charges of aggravated burglary and criminal damage, while Roberts also faces an assault charge. Their barrister argued that the charges and description of the incident were exaggerated. They are due to appear at the Old Bailey on May 1.

A motion at the England Local Medical Committee conference called for GP practices to resist new requirements to keep online consultation systems open throughout working hours. The BMA says the rules are unfunded, unsafe and likely to cause urgent cases to be missed, citing reports of patients submitting serious symptoms through non-urgent forms. Health minister Stephen Kinnock accused BMA leaders of risking patient safety and defended the government’s investment in general practice. BMA council chairman Tom Dolphin said the dispute reflected a wider breakdown of trust between clinicians and ministers.

Yellow warnings for heavy rain and wind were issued across the West Midlands and much of Wales until late Monday, with the Met Office forecasting 20mm to 40mm of rain widely and up to 70mm on higher ground. The Environment Agency warned that surface-water and river flooding could occur, while wind gusts could reach 55–65mph and possibly 80mph in parts of England. Residents were advised not to drive through floodwater because flowing water can float a car.
