Law student, 25, 'found with bomb in car' at UK-Irish border is granted bail
Law student Isobella Perrie Sullivan, 25, has been granted bail after Gardaí allegedly found Semtex and a detonator in a bag in her car near Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. Prosecutors said she appeared linked to IRA operational activity, while her solicitor argued that she had been manipulated and did not know what the bag contained. Bail was granted with strict conditions, including a €15,000 surety, passport surrender, daily reporting, an overnight curfew and a proposed ban on contact with Saoradh or the New IRA. A second male suspect remains in Garda custody.

An inquest confirmed that train driver Shaun Burton died from traumatic brainstem and chest injuries after his East Midlands Railway service passed a red signal and struck a stationary train near Bedford. Investigators reported that Burton’s train applied brakes shortly before impact and that both locomotives’ AWS systems played roles in the events leading to the collision. The crash injured 162 people, with over 100 taken to hospital. The inquest was adjourned pending completion of RAIB and British Transport Police investigations.
