Welsh conman claimed he was a multi-millionaire cancer patient
Joseph Gibson, a 35-year-old Welsh fraudster from Ruthin, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to three years and two months in prison after admitting four counts of fraud. He falsely claimed to be a former special forces soldier and multi-millionaire, fabricated ownership of luxury properties and yachts, and lied about having cancer. He defrauded three women and one man of £68,000 between 2020 and 2021, including victims he met on Tinder, leaving one woman with only 93p and forcing another into debt management. Gibson claimed he could repay victims but could offer only £15,000, and he will face a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing to recover assets.
