The 2026 Steel City Cup has announced nine finalist teams after 17 companies entered 20 teams in qualifying karting events at Parkwood Karting in Sheffield. The finalists will compete on September 17 while raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, with the event aiming to exceed £5,000. Teenage racing driver and charity ambassador Rowan Campbell-Pilling has raised more than £35,000 for the charity since 2022, helping fund specialist equipment and new facilities.

Sheffield artist Zoe Genders will create a 212-square-metre mural along Cutler’s Walk beside Sheaf Bank Business Park in Heeley. The project aims to brighten an underused gateway, deter antisocial behaviour and celebrate the area’s natural environment and community identity. Local workshops with children from Carfield Primary School and Heeley City Farm helped shape the design, with funding coming from corporate philanthropy, individual donations and local authority support.
