UK prison nurse 'besotted' with gang member caught with 'hollowed-out shoes'
Prison nurse Kiera Burton, 35, has been given an interim striking-off order by the Nursing and Midwifery Council after receiving a 20-month prison sentence for helping smuggle cannabis, ketamine, spice, phones and SIM cards into HMP Preston and HMP Lancaster Farms. A court heard that Burton was romantically infatuated with a gang member and participated in carefully planned deliveries, including drone drops. Drugs, cash, phones, SIM cards and shoes with hollowed-out soles were found during searches. Fourteen people were jailed over the conspiracy, and the NMC said Burton's conduct seriously damaged public confidence in the nursing profession.
