Award-winning UK gin distillery collapses into liquidation
Secret Garden Distillery, an award‑winning gin producer based in Midlothian, has entered voluntary liquidation after nearly ten years of operation. Opus Restructuring LLP has been appointed as joint liquidators following a resolution to wind up the company, with documents showing an official address change to Glasgow. Founded by Hamish Martin and rooted in a herb garden venture, the distillery gained acclaim for its natural gin, visitor experiences and industry awards, including an IWSC UK Gin Producer of the Year title. The business attracted around 20,000 visitors annually and earned strong public reviews, though no reason for the liquidation has yet been disclosed.
