Five foods to eat during a heatwave to help you stay hydrated
Water-rich foods such as watermelon, other fruit, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, yoghurt, milk and homemade ice lollies can make a meaningful contribution to children’s fluid intake during a heatwave. They may be useful when children resist drinking, but should supplement rather than replace regular drinks. The guidance also recommends flexible, appealing meals and emphasizes that possible dehydration should be assessed through a combination of changes in a child’s appearance, behaviour and fluid intake rather than any single symptom.
