Manchester model self-injects lip filler at home after clinics refused over safety risks
Manchester-based influencer Sofia Lips reportedly injected herself with 20 syringes of lip filler after several clinics refused further treatment, warning that her lips were already too stretched and additional filler could be dangerous. She paid for a short online course and bought the products from an overseas supplier, later saying she intended to recreate an exaggerated appearance and might inject other people. NHS England warns that dermal fillers can cause infection, nerve damage and blindness and advises avoiding practitioners with only brief training. The report also notes a wider trend of at-home cosmetic injections and recalls Lips’s previous life-threatening complications from botched procedures.

Family's dream £6k Egypt holiday ruined by cruel scammer
A Salford family says a scammer impersonating On the Beach tricked Tania Rowan into paying £768 and then cancelled their booking for a £6,300 Egypt holiday. Six of the 14 travellers arrived at the Charmillion Club Resort without rooms and had to pay about £450 each for alternative accommodation. The family says repeated attempts to contact On the Beach during the week-long trip failed and that they have not been reimbursed. On the Beach says Tania fell victim to an impersonation scam, advised her to contact her bank, and urged customers to manage bookings only through secure accounts.

NHS therapist takes career break to travel the world with kids after 'missing out'
NHS occupational therapist Claire Cockayne and her partner Ben took their children out of school and left the UK on a 14-month round-the-world trip after feeling that demanding careers were causing them to miss important moments in their children's lives. Claire secured an NHS career break, while the couple arranged rental income, online work and reduced expenses to fund the journey. They are home-schooling their children while travelling through Europe, with planned trips to the United States, Mexico, South America, Asia and potentially Australia. The family says travel has improved the children's confidence and curiosity, although full-time travel is exhausting and lacks the day-to-day support normally provided by grandparents.

Husband’s tracking app led him to wife's body after chilling texts, inquest hears
An inquest heard that Sophie Shambley, 38, was found dead on the tracks at Bryn Railway Station in Wigan on December 19, 2025. Her husband, Shaun, used the Life360 GPS app to locate her after she left home and sent goodbye messages to family members. Evidence described her long history of depression, anxiety and post-natal depression, as well as recent bereavements and engagement with mental-health and substance-support services. Her GP said there had been no mental-health concerns that month and characterized earlier suicidal thoughts as fleeting. Coroner Stephen Teasdale recorded the cause of death as polytrauma and concluded that she died by suicide.
