An inquest heard that Sophie Shambley, 38, of Ashton-in-Makerfield, sent final messages to her mother, children and husband before she was found dead at Bryn Railway Station on December 19, 2025. Her family and GP described a long history of depression, anxiety and post-natal depression, alongside recent bereavements and other personal difficulties, although she had continued seeking support and was not considered to present immediate mental-health concerns. Coroner Stephen Teasdale recorded the cause of death as polytrauma and concluded that she died by suicide.
