Tourists evacuated by boat from horror wildfire that left two French firefighters dead
A wildfire in France’s Gironde region has prompted the evacuation of around 20,000 people from the Cap Ferret and Arcachon Bay area, including more than 400 tourists transported by boat. The blaze has burned about 8,700 hectares, killed two firefighters and threatened campsites and residential areas. President Emmanuel Macron has requested European assistance, with aircraft from several countries expected to support firefighting efforts, while officials warn that high temperatures and changing winds could worsen the situation.
