About Reyan
Reyan Tuvi is a journalist based in İstanbul, Turkey. Born in the Aegean city of Izmir, in 1967, Reyan Tuvi has studied English Language and Literature at Bosphorus University and received a scholarship for her master’s degree in Documentary Production at the Northern Media School in the UK. Returning back to Turkey, she has worked for various newspapers/ magazines (e.g. National Geographic, Turkey) as a reporter/ editor and traveled all around Anatolia, the Turkish heartland for ‘’Hürriyet Seyahat’’, the travel supplement of the best selling Turkish newspaper, Hürriyet. Since 1995, Tuvi has working as a producer- researcher for foreign media outlets (radio, tv, magazine) such as BBC, Finnish TV YLE, Danish TV2, Voice of America Paris Match and also worked as a script writer/ researcher in various documentaries filmed in Turkey and abroad (Africa, Central Asia, Australia) on travel and different cultures of the world. She also acted as an advisor for TRT (Turkish State Television) for their travel documentary series. Her interest in the social issues on her own country and the world led her in the way of becoming an independent documentary maker. Her documentaries still continue to be screened at many film festivals in Turkey and around the world. Reyan Tuvi has three guide books on Turkey and a book on the Roman people of Istanbul whose neighbourhood is destroyed by gentrification. She is still writing feature stories for newspapers and web journals such as T24 on human rights issues, discrimination and culture and is continuing shooting documentaries. Since 1989, Tuvi is a proffessional tourist guide and has a certificate of specialization on Istanbul. She can speak and write in English (advanced), French (intermediate) and Kurdish (beginner).

2015 / LOVE WILL CHANGE THE EARTH / 117’ / Turkish- Sign language (İstanbul, Taksim Square/ Gezi Park resistance) In the last days of May 2013, the Taksim Square at the center of Istanbul witnessed one of the biggest civic uprisings in the history of modern Turkey. Millions took to the streets in a movement which was triggered by the local authorities’ attempt to demolish Gezi Park, the only remaining green area in the centre of the city, by bulldozing the trees to build a shopping mall in its place. The documentary narrates how people from very different lifestyles and ideologies fought together to convert Gezi into a model of the world that they dreamed of.
