Ammanford Youth Theatre’s creative director warns that extreme heat inside the Grade II‑listed Ammanford Miners’ Theatre has forced audience walkouts and cancelled performances, alleging Carmarthenshire Council failed to deliver promised air‑conditioning. The council denies any commitment to install air‑conditioning but says specialists have been assessing ventilation upgrade options, emphasising constraints related to the building’s listed status and energy considerations. Temporary measures such as additional fans and a chilled water fountain have been introduced while long‑term solutions are reviewed.

Carmarthenshire Council expects progress this autumn on the long-delayed regeneration of Llanelli’s Tyisha ward as it nears selection of a development partner. Opposition leader Deryk Cundy pressed for details on timelines, while cabinet member Emlyn Schiavone said information could not yet be shared due to legal constraints. The Transforming Tyisha project aims to deliver affordable housing, improved facilities and a safer environment in one of the county’s most deprived areas. Councillor Terry Davies highlighted persistent challenges including poverty and anti-social behaviour, and noted the project’s proximity to the new £200m Pentre Awel complex and a planned transport hub at Llanelli railway station.
