A dragon-shaped landmark welcoming drivers into Wales has become obscured by overgrown vegetation on the A494 near Flintshire. Installed in 2009 along with a lion on the opposite bank, the artwork is set to be restored after National Highways confirmed upcoming maintenance to clear weeds and grass. Local councillor Bob James supported the effort and suggested forming a group to maintain the feature. The dragon’s orientation, once criticised for facing the nontraditional direction, was defended as fitting the flow of traffic.
