Adenomyosis in Pregnancy—Should It Be Managed in High-Risk Obstetric Units?

20 Mar 2023  |  mdpi.com
The study investigates the association between adenomyosis and obstetric complications, suggesting that pregnancies affected by adenomyosis are more likely to experience complications and should be managed in high-risk obstetric units. Data from TriNetX, LLC, between 2010 and 2020, was analyzed, including 7,608 pregnant patients with adenomyosis and 566,153 without endometriosis. The study found increased risks for intrauterine growth restriction, preterm delivery, cesarean delivery, hypertensive disorders, abruption placentae, and spontaneous abortion in pregnancies with adenomyosis. The authors recommend that patients with adenomyosis should be managed in specialized high-risk obstetric units.
