Duncan Scott lands Scotland's first gold medal at Glasgow's Commonwealth Games
Duncan Scott won the men's 200m individual medley at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in a games-record time of 1:56.28, securing Scotland's first gold medal of the 2026 competition. He led after the backstroke and extended his advantage in the breaststroke, finishing ahead of New Zealand's Lewis Clareburt and England's Tom Dean. Scott described the victory as a relief and said he would fully reflect on the achievement after the meet, while hoping it would build momentum for Scotland's team.
