Former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Mike Bailey has died aged 84 after battling Alzheimer’s disease for nine years. Bailey played 436 matches for Wolves between 1966 and 1977, captained the club to the 1974 League Cup and appeared in the 1972 UEFA Cup final, while also earning two England caps. Former teammate John Richards paid tribute to Bailey’s leadership, influence and courage, describing him as one of Wolves’ greatest-ever captains.
