Company fined £50,000 for death of dad catapulted from lift in horror accident
A worker dismantling a cleanroom structure at a Renfrew technology centre was killed after wall panels collapsed and threw him from a scissor lift. Investigators found that Food Process Engineering Limited had failed to assess structural risks, provide required supports, or share safety documentation with staff. The company admitted failing in its duty of care and received a £50,000 fine plus a £3,750 surcharge at Paisley Sheriff Court. The Health and Safety Executive highlighted the lack of planning and awareness of danger that led to the fatal incident.
