Pakistan’s Nuclear Capability, Turkey’s Defense Industry and Saudi Arabia’s Financial Power: Which Country Could Benefit from the Mecca Agreement, and How?
The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey could combine Pakistan’s nuclear and military capabilities, Saudi financial resources and Turkey’s expanding defense industry. Experts argue that Saudi Arabia may gain the most immediate benefit through stronger deterrence against Iranian and Houthi missile, drone and maritime threats, while Pakistan could receive economic assistance, defense equipment, training and technology cooperation. Turkey could expand defense exports, joint production and its diplomatic role between NATO and regional states. The agreement is presented as defensive rather than directed against a specific country, and it is unlikely to create an automatic NATO-style obligation for the three states to enter one another’s wars. Its effectiveness will depend on developing a joint command, resources and a coherent strategy. Balancing relations with Iran, India and other competing partners remains a major challenge, while deeper Turkish or Pakistani involvement in Yemen could further regionalize the conflict.

What is the alleged jammer seen in a video of banned TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud, and how does it work?
A video released by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan appears to show a person accompanying leader Noor Wali Mehsud carrying a backpack-mounted device with four antennas. Although social media users claimed it was a Chinese-made frequency jammer, BBC Urdu could not independently identify it. Experts said the device is commercially available, may resemble a Chinese DSG jammer, and was likely not seized from Pakistani security forces or manufactured locally. Such portable jammers are designed mainly to disrupt or detect small drones, including quadcopters, and can also interfere with cellular and other communications, but their range and effectiveness against larger drones are limited.
