U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement signed a $16.7 million no-bid contract with Compliant Technologies LLC for 6,000 electric shock gloves, support equipment, and services over six months. ICE says the gloves will help officers subdue resisting detainees, control crowds, and avoid more severe force, but civil-rights groups and 16 Democratic senators argue that the agency lacks adequate oversight, training, and accountability to deploy them safely. The Department of Homeland Security defended the purchase and accused critics of endangering federal officers.
