I’m a multi-award-winning British-Iranian journalist, presenter, and documentary maker with over a decade of experience working across television, radio, podcasts, and digital platforms. I’ve reported from around the world for major broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, Sky News, CBS, ITV, and VICE—covering breaking news, conflict, human rights, social justice, climate change, natural disasters, and underreported global issues. Fluent in Farsi, English, and Dari, I work confidently across all formats—from fast-turnaround news packages and live reporting to feature writing, long-form documentaries, podcasts, and digital-first video. I regularly produce and present stories for both TV and online, crafting original journalism that combines strong storytelling with editorial rigour. My experience spans field reporting, in-studio presentation, scripting, and post-production—across both short-form and long-form output. As a correspondent for CBS and Sky News, I’ve delivered live hits, pre-recorded packages, and original features for domestic and international audiences. At the BBC, I’ve contributed across World News, Radio 4, BBC Persian, Outlook, BBC Travel, and the World Service—reporting from countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the U.S., and beyond. I’ve fronted global documentaries for Channel 4’s Unreported World, directed investigative films for VICE, and led a year-long undercover investigation for ITV Exposure that contributed to policy change in the UK. I bring a wide range of technical and editorial skills to my work. I’m trained in media law and compliance (NCTJ, Ofcom) and have worked closely with legal teams on sensitive investigations. I’m HEFAT certified and experienced in field-based production, often self-shooting and editing using Final Cut Pro. I’ve moderated panels, coordinated high-profile guests, and managed complex logistics in challenging environments. Fl

Young girls force-fed for marriage in Mauritania | Unreported World
Force fed to be fat: Some Mauritanian communities believe that the fatter girls look the wealthier and more attractive they appear to men. Sahar Zand meets the families force feeding their young girls a 9,000 calorie-a-day diet during a brutal "feeding season" in Mauritania. Growing up in a poor country, that's going through a devastating drought, means that marrying well is crucial and mothers believe getting fat will increase the chances of a happy union.
