Israel says it has serious concerns with Hamas disarmament deal
Israel has told the White House that it has serious security concerns about a proposed agreement requiring Hamas to disarm. Israeli officials say intelligence indicates Hamas remains committed to rebuilding its military capabilities and could quickly expand its presence across Gaza if Israel withdraws before disarmament. The plan, announced by President Donald Trump after months of negotiations, envisions phased Israeli withdrawal, the transfer of Hamas-held weapons to a U.S.-backed Palestinian technical committee, an international security force, and the rebuilding of Gaza. Israel says it has been consulted throughout the negotiations but remains concerned about verification, the timing of weapons destruction, Hamas's continued attacks, and the prospect of a renewed military threat. Israeli strikes in Gaza reportedly killed at least 17 people, including children, after the ceasefire agreement was signed.
