Most peaceful walk one hour from Surrey has amazing views and is a birdwatching haven
Farlington Marshes, a 123‑hectare coastal wetland near Portsmouth, offers a quiet circular walking route with expansive views and rich birdlife, including breeding waders in summer and large numbers of overwintering wildfowl. Managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, the reserve features diverse habitats, grazing cattle and historical wartime decoy structures. Facilities are minimal, dogs must be kept on leads, and access is available via car, train or bus.
