Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team rescued Ron, an injured dog that slipped into a grassy gully at Sleddale Forest and could no longer walk. After receiving advice from the team's vet, volunteers treated Ron at the scene and carried both him and his uninjured owner down the fell on a stretcher.

An HMICFRS inspection found Cumbria Police in a stable position, rating it good for leadership, workplace inclusivity, responding to the public, and safeguarding children and adults. The force received adequate ratings for four other areas, including proportional use of powers and fraud management, while investigators were criticized for not consistently maintaining supervision and activity as cases progressed. The report also identified racial disproportionality in use of force, with Black people 8.5 times more likely than white people to be subjected to it, alongside gaps in ethnicity data. Commissioner David Allen praised the force, but acknowledged that it must continue addressing the identified weaknesses.
