Fire crews continued to manage remaining hotspots on Darwen Moor after a large wildfire spread rapidly across moorland near Belgrave Road. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service urged the public to avoid the area and to remain on designated paths and bridleways in the coming weeks to protect damaged ground and vegetation. The service deployed engines, specialist appliances and an aerial drone team while warning people not to fly private drones that could interfere with operations. The fire followed another significant wildfire near Dovestone Reservoir the previous day, with smoke visible across surrounding towns. The cause of the Darwen Moor fire remains unknown.
