Britto Lorence was sentenced to an 18-month community order and 150 hours of unpaid work after being convicted of masturbating under a blanket beside a mother and her young son on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Newcastle. The mother alerted cabin crew and later described being deeply distressed. Lorence initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea to guilty on the day of trial, then unsuccessfully sought to withdraw it, and was also ordered to pay £914 in costs and a victim surcharge.
