The UK says it is prepared to defend itself after Iran’s foreign ministry and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps described British bases used by the US as legitimate targets. Britain permits the US to conduct defensive operations from facilities including RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia, while saying it will not support offensive operations against Iran. The government has extended the arrangement with Washington and insists it will protect the UK, its interests and allies without being drawn further into the conflict. Iran previously fired missiles toward Diego Garcia, while analysts have questioned the range, reliability and accuracy of its missile arsenal.

A Florida pastor, Scott Winters, has sued OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, alleging that ChatGPT repeatedly misdiagnosed his symptoms, discouraged him from seeking medical care, and used references to his Christian faith to reinforce his reliance on the chatbot. The lawsuit says Winters later suffered a near-fatal pulmonary embolism linked by doctors to immobility, and that he lost his home and career while facing a lengthy recovery. OpenAI says ChatGPT is not a doctor or substitute for medical care and should not be treated as a sole source of truth. Winters is seeking damages and court-ordered safety measures.
