Portfolio
Voces Adentro (Voices Within)
I created the concept, pre-production, production, and post-production of “Voces Adentro”, a live-streamed series broadcast on the social media platforms of Voces de Cuba.
Hosted by Janisset Rivero, the program connects history and present-day resistance by analyzing interviews from our archive, engaging in real-time interaction with the audience, and featuring special guests.
More than a livestream, it is a tool for civic education and cultural resistance, reaching diverse audiences—especially young people—inside and outside of Cuba.
Basic Principles of Nonviolent Civic Resistance
In March 2024, I was in charge of the pre-production, production, and post-production of “Basic Principles of Nonviolent Civic Resistance”, a project designed to train activists on how to confront oppressive regimes and demand rights through strictly non-violent means.
The course explored the advantages of civil disobedience and the pursuit of political, social, and cultural change without violence as a weapon. It detailed the various types of non-violent actions, weighing their pros and cons, and analyzing the necessary adaptations to implement them in Cuba’s context—under a dictatorship of more than six decades.
The classes were based on the influential book by former U.S. Colonel Robert Helvey, “On Strategic Nonviolent Conflict: Thinking About the Fundamentals”. The project was a co-production with the Center for a Free Cuba.
PENSANDO EN CUBA (Thinking of Cuba)
I was responsible for the pre-production, production, and post-production of “Pensando en Cuba” (Thinking of Cuba), a series of virtual classes on Cuban history covering the period from pre-colonial times to the present.
The project was produced by Voces de Cuba, with Jeffrey Puente García and myself leading the production. The classes were taught by distinguished professors Dr. Graciela Cruz-Taura, Dr. Pedro Roig, and Janisset Rivero.
In addition to overseeing the entire production process, I also managed the editing and post-production, ensuring the series delivered high-quality educational content accessible to a wide audience.
The Future of Freedom in the Americas
On February 15, 2022, I covered the event “The Future of Freedom in the Americas” for The Libre Institute, organized in collaboration with FEE – The Foundation for Economic Education, The Atlas Society, and the FIU Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom.
The panel featured prestigious personalities such as Gloria Álvarez, Ian Vásquez, Daniel Garza, Jennifer Grossman, José Benegas, Josselin Castillo, Antonella Martí, Asiel Babastro, Esteban “Steven” Petersen, and Víctor Otero.
My work included producing a master video with fully color-graded footage and professionally edited audio of the entire event. Additionally, I created short video clips with highlights of the talks, specifically tailored for sharing across the organizers’ social media platforms.
CAMPAIGN #CUBA: Faces of Repression
In 2020, I was in charge of the pre-production, production, and post-production of #CUBA: Faces of Repression, a powerful social media campaign designed to raise international awareness of the systematic human rights violations that have taken place in Cuba for more than 60 years.
The campaign consisted of eight video episodes, each under 15 minutes, released between June and September 2020. These videos shared the courageous testimonies of Cuban citizens who had suffered repression under the communist regime.
#CUBA: Faces of Repression was a co-production of Voces de Cuba, Palenque Visión de Cuba and Freedom House
MEMORY OF NATIONS
In June 2021, I filmed 15 in-depth interviews with victims of the Cuban communist regime as part of Memory of the Nations, the largest life story archive in Europe.
This international project is carried out by the non-profit organization Czech Post-Bellum and is dedicated to preserving testimonies of those who lived through totalitarianism, wars, and political persecution.
The Cuban interviews were recorded in various locations across Miami, Florida, adding the voices of Cuban exiles to this global archive of human memory and resilience.
