Police were called to Sea Walls in Bristol after crowds scrambled for free solar eclipse glasses distributed by We The Curious. Thousands gathered to watch the partial eclipse, during which at least 90% of the Sun was obscured, while disruptive queues, scarce parking and exhausted glasses supplies created disorder. Experts warned that only certified solar eclipse glasses provide adequate protection, and the Royal Greenwich Observatory said it had sold about 15,000 pairs ahead of the rare event.
