Nightingale Turns 10: How a Temporary Job Became an 'Exciting' Career
Taylor Mikasko reflects on becoming general manager of Vancouver’s Nightingale Restaurant after initially viewing restaurant work as temporary. Since joining the establishment when David Hawksworth opened it in 2016, Mikasko has moved from learning fine-dining standards to focusing on workplace culture, staff development and hospitality as a viable career. The 166-seat restaurant is marking its 10th year with a share-plate menu featuring pizza, vegetables and seafood, while its longevity is reflected in a number of long-serving employees.
