North East Lincolnshire Council has installed artificial flower displays on the A180 flyover in Grimsby to avoid watering costs and conserve water during an ongoing drought and hosepipe ban. The temporary, low-budget measure has divided residents: some see the flowers as economical and easy to maintain, while others object to their plastic composition and fear they will become dirty. A local horticulturist suggested drought-resistant plants such as lavender, thyme and silver foliage as a more sustainable future option.
