The Mahabodhi Dispute: What Are Hindus Doing at the Place Where Gautama Buddha Attained Enlightenment?
The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, regarded by Buddhists as the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, is at the center of a dispute over control and worship. Buddhists are protesting the 1949 Bodh Gaya Temple Act, which created a management committee with equal Hindu and Buddhist members but leaves effective influence with Hindus through the district magistrate. Buddhist groups seek exclusive administrative control and have sustained demonstrations across India, while Hindu monastic leaders argue that Hindu worship, including devotion to Shiva, has longstanding historical roots at the site. The Bihar government says it is open to discussions, and a petition concerning Buddhist representation is pending before India’s Supreme Court.

India Risks Becoming Complicit in Genocide in Gaza by Supplying Weapons to Israel: Amnesty International
Amnesty International says India sent at least 2,596 shipments of weapons, ammunition and military components to Israel between 23 October 2023 and 2025, despite the risk that they could be used in alleged genocide and other violations against Palestinians in Gaza. The organization urged India to halt the exports, arguing that continuing them could breach genocide-prevention obligations and the Geneva Conventions. India's foreign ministry defended the country's defense-trade system and international compliance but did not disclose the quantity or nature of the weapons. The report and accompanying analysis describe expanding India-Israel defense cooperation, including Indian-made drone warheads, artillery-shell casings, armored vehicles, missile components and other equipment supplied to Israeli defense firms. Indian opposition figures and journalists criticized the policy, while defense analyst Rahul Bedi emphasized the long-term strategic and joint-production ties between the two countries.
